This winter will officially be a busy time for the River Legacy volunteers, with Teifi Tour happening on the 24-26th of October, then a mere week later were up t’north for the almighty Tyne Tour on the 1-2 of November! What a crazy couple of weeks that’s going to be! Check out both websites for more details of what’s going down.
A few of the RL crew were down at BUCS Canoe Polo this weekend. Had a great time being on the drinking side of the bar, and partying with Extreme Events. Thanks to the guys from Loughborough Uni for the invite. Hope everyone who competed had a good weekend.
Hope everybody had as good a time as we did at National Student Rodeo 2013. Big Legacy thanks must go to all our volunteers who worked so hard to make the party happen, Rodeo Bosses Ben, Harry and Tom and everyone at Luucc and Peak Uk Shop. We love you all. Photos will follow soon….
This year’s event was the first year that River Legacy had been involved in organising the Tryweryn Festival. Our involvement came about as part of our recent donation to Canoe Wales, and on the strength of the weekend we cannot wait to go back next year!
The event had plenty happening on the water, with events organised the guys at Canoe Wales and the Festival sponsors, and River Legacy brought the evening’s entertainment.
The Saturday night party was particularly enjoyable, with food from our sponsors at Pieminister and superb music from Liverpool band ‘The Grace’
There’s some photos of the party and paddling over on the Tryweryn Festival facebook page, which can be found at www.facebook.com/trywerynfestival.
River Legacy are delighted to be involved in this year’s Tryweryn Fest, which takes place on 9th & 10th June 2012 at the National White Water Centre near Bala in North Wales.
There’ll be plenty going on, with films, lectures and of course a brilliant River Legacy party.
More details will follow soon.
Another year, and another Biggest Ever Rodeo! This year, over 1,100 students headed down to Holme Pierrepont for the National Student Rodeo, and were rewarded with an epic weekend of partying and paddling.
Leeds University Union Canoe Club did their usual sterling job of organising the world’s biggest freestyle kayaking competition, and River Legacy put on a huge party to match.
Big thanks to all who helped make this weekend a resounding success, especially all at LUUCC, Extreme Events and all our River Legacy volunteers.
We took lots of photos from the event, which can be found on our official facebook page, or by following the links below:
We’ve managed to extend capacity and online registration will reopen tomorrow morning! There are still limited places so remember to get on it early. The campsite capacity is less than the party so when we reach that then we’ll be selling party only tickets. You’ll still get a wristband for the party both nights but will need to sort out your own accommodation. Registration will close when we reach capacity or at 11pm on Thursday.
NSR has now reached it’s licensed capacity of 950 tickets. We’re working to get the event capacity increased, and have been in negotiations with the relevant authorities today. As soon as we know, we’ll let you know!
Event only tickets for the K1 event are still available, please email email@example.com for details. We are working as hard as we can to increase the capacity. If that happens registration will reopen. We will update you as soon as we know more.
We’re pleased to announce Emerge Stimulation Drink as our official Bar Sponsor for the National Student Rodeo 2012. Their support will help provide the now legendary NSR party with an extra boost of energy, as well as helping River Legacy to raise funds for paddlesports projects in England and Wales.
The Safety team at the National Student Rodeo do the vital job of hauling people and kit out of the water when they’ve swum. You’ll get some heavily concentrated Safety experience, throwline and livebait work. It’s tiring work but you’ll have a team on hand to keep you fed and watered all day. Previous experience is not necessary as you’ll learn fast!
We’ll need names and details of any volunteers in advance for insurance documentation. This job is important for the Rodeo to run and is also a lot of fun so get involved! If you’re interested please contact Beth at info [at] nationalstudentrodeo.org.uk and title your email “NSR Safety Team”
