River Legacy donate £5000 to Kingfisher Canoe Club

Featured

National Student Rodeo was, as ever, a big event, but the announcement made on Saturday night during the River Legacy Film Festival massively changed the game for one canoe club for years to come.

River Legacy exists to promote participation in paddlesport. All profits from the NSR 2017 ‘End of the World’ party, sponsored by Dewerstone, go towards causes voted on by our trustees. If you have a cause that needs support, email a proposal to team@river-legacy.org.uk

Kingfisher Canoe Club, based in Oxfordshire, and their youth branch Pathfinders Canoe Club, were recently evicted from their site due to privatisation of the local facilities. Run for over 40 years by volunteers, Kingfisher Canoe Club is an essential part of the local community, and has introduced countless children and adults to paddlesport. Currently with around 140 members, including 40 youth members, they were faced with the prospect of not being able to continue to participate in their sport. Continue reading

River Legacy announce ‘End of the World’ NSR Party, sponsored by dewerstone!

So we called up our friends down south at dewerstone HQ to see whether they fancied getting involved in what promises to be an apocalyptical two nights!

Teifi Tour 2016 #wildwestwales

Cowboys, Kayaks & Carnage!

The Best Kayaking Festival You’ve Never Heard Of

In a pretty quiet year for UK paddlers, Teifi Tour remained the bright spot for many British boaters, with a weekend that smashed all records and brought together months of hard work by the River Legacy team. On the weekend the clocks jumped back in October, River Legacy volunteers assembled from across the country to Llandysul in West Wales, putting together an event that continues year on year to inspire paddlers old and new alike. From humble beginnings with few students and a largely local South-Wales clientele, Teifi Tour on the River Teifi has grown to draw students from near and far, and has become a staple on the UK paddling calendar. Combining excellent boating that is suitable for all abilities, two nights of legendary parties and the infamous party tent pool, River Legacy and Llandysul Paddlers put on one hell of a show.

The yearly paddle/party combo that the registered charity River Legacy deliver is one of many throughout the year, with every penny of profit put into projects and causes that support the RL ethos – improving access and encouraging participation in paddlesport in the UK. And what better way to raise the cash than to
give everyone a great weekend? Continue reading
