#TeamRiverLegacy Profile – Zander Lee

Working hard to support grassroots paddling, #TeamRiverLegacy come from all over the country to volunteer at events. Real paddlers gives up their time, for free, to make sure you have the best time possible and get out onto the water. So we decided to put a name to those faces behind the bar!

Where were you born and where do you currently live?
Bradford for both
Whats your day job?
I’m a High School Science teacher
How long have you been involved with RL, when was your first event?
Involved for 11 years, first event was 12 years ago Teifi Tour back in 2004!
Whats your role at River Legacy, and what do you do at events?
Charity trustee. My main role at events is to cause a scene. I make a lot of noise and try to show people how great River Legacy is. I help to co-ordinate people on takedown, work on the bar, herd students and make sure everyone is having a good time

What boat do you paddle?
I’ve got a Riot Air and a Liquid Logic Jefe at the minute.

In North Wales
Favourite RL event and why?
Teifi Tour! It’s the silly one where everyone goes a bit mad!
Do you have any stories or highlights worth sharing?
The time the pool split in the Teifi marquee and everything degenerated in to mud wrestling. Amazing!zander
How did you get into paddling? Who introduced you to the sport and helped with your first steps?
I was part of Aberystwyth University Canoe Club when at Uni, and it carried on from there.
RL supports grassroots paddling and encourages participation in paddlesport, how important is that and what would you like to see us do over the next couple of years? 
Very important. The more money we can raise, the more we can give away to get people on the water
What are you most excited to do in 2017? 
NSR is always a highlight, then my six weeks off!
What would you like to see River Legacy do over the next couple of years to improve?
Give away even more money
